BRD Is Hiring: 5 Open Positions at the Development Bank of Rwanda (Deadline: Sunday, 6 September 2026)

If you are a Rwandan professional who has been quietly waiting for a serious role to open up somewhere with real weight behind it, stop scrolling for a minute.

The Development Bank of Rwanda, better known as BRD, published its August 2026 vacancy notice in Kigali on 25 August. Five positions. One slot for each. That is the part people miss when they see a long list and assume there is room for everyone. There is not. One person gets each of these jobs.

Deadline is Sunday, 6 September 2026. So you have a short window, and the application process is not the quick kind. More on that below, because it is the part that trips most people up.

The five open positions

Each of these has exactly one opening.

1. Full Stack Software Engineer (1)

The one everyone will chase. If you move comfortably between front end and back end, and you have shipped something real that actual users touch, this is your slot. Banks in Rwanda are pushing hard on digital products right now and BRD is right in the middle of that.

2. Specialist, Data Analyst (1)

For the people who live in SQL, dashboards and clean reporting. A development bank sits on a mountain of lending and portfolio data, and someone has to turn it into decisions leadership can actually act on.

3. DevOps Engineer (1)

CI/CD, cloud, infrastructure, keeping the systems standing while everyone else sleeps. If you have been doing this at a smaller company and you want scale and a proper budget, this is a step up.

4. Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer (1)

Honestly underrated. QA inside a financial institution is not clicking around hunting for bugs. It is protecting money and reputation. Fewer people apply for QA than for developer roles, which quietly makes it one of the better odds on this list.

5. Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Specialist (1)

This one sits outside IT, under Strategy and Resource Mobilization. It is for the M&E crowd, the people who track whether programmes actually delivered what they promised. Very common skill set in the Rwandan NGO and development space, and it transfers well into a development bank.

Read that PDF before you write anything. Every year I watch people apply off a poster alone and then wonder why they never heard back.

How to apply, exactly

This is where you should slow down.

Apply online only. Paper and email applications will not be considered. Use either of these:

What you need to upload:

Curriculum Vitae
Copies of your degree certificates
Copies of your professional certificates
Motivation letter
Names of three previous supervisors, with their emails and telephone numbers

All of it goes in as one document. So merge your files into a single PDF before you start, in a sensible order. Motivation letter first, CV, then certificates, then your referee page at the back. Trying to sort this out at midnight on the 6th while the portal is busy is a bad plan.

Address your application to the Director, People, Culture and Corporate Services of BRD. Put that in your motivation letter.

After you upload successfully, a notification pop up message will appear. Wait for it. If you do not see it, your application probably did not go through. Take a screenshot of it too, just for your own peace of mind.

BRD says the employment package is highly competitive and attractive, which in the Rwandan banking sector means it is worth putting in the proper effort rather than firing off a generic CV.

One last note from the announcement, and I appreciate that they said it plainly. Because of the expected high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. So do not sit by your phone for three weeks assuming bad news. Apply, then keep moving.

Who they want to hear from

BRD states that it respects gender equality and disability norms and promotes gender responsive practices. Qualified candidates, particularly women and persons with disabilities, are encouraged to apply.

Let me add something honest here. I have watched too many strong candidates, especially women in tech, talk themselves out of applying because they matched seven of the ten requirements instead of all ten. Do not do that. Apply anyway. The worst outcome is silence, and silence costs you nothing.

Small things that separate shortlisted from ignored

Match the exact job title. If the vacancy says Full Stack Software Engineer, your CV should not just say Software Developer.
Name your projects. Not "worked on web applications" but what you built, the stack, and what it did for the business.
Keep the CV to two pages. The certificates go behind it, not inside it.
Name your merged file properly. Firstname_Lastname_Full_Stack_Software_Engineer.pdf looks like someone who pays attention.
Ask your three referees before you list them. Someone from BRD may actually call.
Apply early in the week. Portals get slow near deadlines and fresh eyes read better.
