Equity Bank Rwanda Is Hiring: 3 Security and Fraud Roles (Deadline 06 September 2026)

Equity Bank Rwanda has three positions open right now, and all of them sit under the same department. Every one of these roles reports to the Head of Security and Investigation.

That matters, because it tells you what the bank is actually building here. This is a security and fraud team, not a general IT or admin hire. Read the requirements carefully before you apply, because two of these roles ask for something very specific that most applicants will not have.

A bit about the employer

Equity Bank operates across Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, DRC and South Sudan, and serves close to 20 million customers. That is the largest customer base of any bank in Africa. Their stated purpose is transforming lives and livelihoods through inclusive financial services.

Position 1: Manager, Forensic and Fraud Prevention

This is the senior role of the three.

What you would actually do

You would run forensic analysis on fraud incidents, including forensic imaging of devices involved in those incidents. You would build and oversee the monitoring systems that catch suspicious activity early, write the policies that prevent fraud in the first place, and lead the effort to recover losses when money does go out the door.

There is also a big relationship side to it. You would maintain working relationships with law enforcement agencies, gather evidence for internal teams and external agencies, and prepare fraud reports for senior management and regulators. Compliance with fraud-related regulations sits with you too.

What they are asking for

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related IT field
• Over 10 years of working experience with National Security Agencies
• Five years at managerial level
• Solid knowledge of fraud detection and investigation
• Strong interviewing and interrogation skills, plus the ability to draft proper reports
• Thorough knowledge of security policies and procedures
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating cases and claims
• Experience in security management
• Leadership, communication and negotiation skills
• Persistence in digging out information that is not easy to find, with real attention to detail
• High integrity and confidentiality

Let me be straight about this one. The combination of an IT degree plus more than ten years with national security agencies is a narrow filter. If you have that background, this role was practically written for you. If you don't, look at the other two.

Position 2: Senior Officer, Investigation

What you would actually do

Real casework. You would investigate allegations of fraud, waste or abuse involving staff, customers, and any case brought against the bank. That means reviewing evidence and documents, working out the full fact pattern, and turning it into a professional written report with recommendations.

You would also plan and run field assignments to collect evidence, work alongside business partners, local authorities and national security organs, and coordinate with the legal department on cases heading to prosecution. Part of the job is spotting where current controls are weak and recommending fixes.

One line in the advert is worth repeating: investigations must be objective, fair and timely. They are looking for someone who will not cut corners.

What they are asking for

• Bachelor's degree in law or business studies, with a professional qualification in investigation or another relevant certification preferred, such as a certified insurance fraud investigator credential
• Over 5 years of working experience with National Security Agencies
• Good knowledge of fraud investigation
• Strong written English, since report writing is a core part of the job
• Interviewing and interrogation skills
• Investigation analytical skills
• Knowledge of security policies and procedures
• Experience in security management
• Honesty, ethics, integrity and confidentiality

Position 3: Senior Officer, System Technician

Don't let the job title fool you. This is not an IT support role. It is physical security.

What you would actually do

You would coordinate security operations across the bank's premises, and manage, train and assess the entire security team, both internal staff and outsourced guards. That includes handling the relationship with the external agency that supplies the guards, and controlling the security operations budget.

The CCTV side is a big chunk of it. You would run the CCTV control room, monitor cameras and access control to protect staff, clients, guests and bank property, and check surveillance regularly for disruptions or unlawful activity.

Beyond that: visiting branches to inspect physical security, running security drills to test whether the measures actually work, training staff on security awareness, assessing risk to facilities and critical infrastructure, and taking action during robberies in coordination with national security organs.

What they are asking for

• Advanced diploma in electrical and electronics engineering
• Proven working experience in the banking industry and with professional security companies
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Good report drafting skills
• Thorough knowledge of security policies and procedures
• Good understanding of the security industry
• Good customer service skills
• Security-oriented and results-driven
• Honest and ethical, with high integrity and confidentiality

Of the three, this one has the widest door. No decade-long national security requirement. If you have an electrical and electronics engineering diploma and you have worked in banking security or for a security firm, you are in the running.

Quick tips before you submit

Match your CV language to the advert. If the job says "forensic imaging" or "CCTV control room management" and you have done that work, use those exact words. Whoever screens the first pile is looking for them.

Be honest about the years. The national security agency experience on the first two roles is not decorative. Padding it will come out at interview stage, and it will cost you more than a rejection would have.

Scan your certificates properly. Blurry phone photos of a degree certificate look careless on a security job application, of all things.

Apply early. Portals get congested near a deadline, and you don't want a slow connection to be the reason you missed it.
